A tick marks identity and security capability included in the base plan; a cross means it is not. Some controls noted as “added July 2026” arrive with Microsoft’s 1 July 2026 update. Capability still has to be configured to take effect.

Buying the licence is only half the story. Business Premium and the E5 tier carry the controls that align to the Essential Eight, but only if you switch them on. Modern 42 helps you turn the licences you already pay for into real security outcomes.

FAQ

Microsoft 365 pricing in Australia

Common questions about Microsoft 365 plan costs, the 1 July 2026 changes, and Copilot pricing in Australia.

From 1 July 2026, 100 seats of Microsoft 365 E5 cost approximately A$107,748 per year (Indicative pricing ONLY, ex-GST, annual commitment, as at May 2026. Modern 42 confirms exact CSP pricing on quote.). That works out to A$89.79 per user per month on an annual commitment. Current pricing is A$85.30 per user per month, or about A$102,360 per year for 100 seats. Monthly billing carries roughly a 20% uplift, and adding GST adds 10%.
It depends on whether you switch on what E5 adds. Across 100 seats from 1 July 2026, E5 costs about A$33,912 per year more than E3 (A$107,748 versus A$73,836). E5 adds Entra ID P2 (Privileged Identity Management, Identity Protection, Access Reviews), the full Intune Suite, Defender for Endpoint P2, Defender for Office 365 P2, and Purview. The value case rests on using those identity and security capabilities. Many organisations pay for E5 but never properly enable PIM or Conditional Access, so the extra cost only pays off once those capabilities are switched on and configured. Modern 42 helps you choose the right plan for your security posture.
Microsoft 365 Copilot is approximately A$44.90 per user per month (Indicative pricing ONLY, ex-GST, annual commitment, as at May 2026. Modern 42 confirms exact CSP pricing on quote.). It is an add-on that requires an eligible base plan such as Microsoft 365 E3 or E5. Across 100 users that adds about A$53,880 per year on top of the base licences. Copilot pricing is held flat for the 1 July 2026 changes.
Microsoft is raising prices on several Microsoft 365 plans from 1 July 2026. The confirmed increases are Business Basic +16.7%, Business Standard +12%, Office 365 E3 +13%, Microsoft 365 F3 +25%, Microsoft 365 E3 +8.3%, and Microsoft 365 E5 +5.3%. Business Premium and Office 365 E1 are unchanged. Some plans also gain capability, such as URL click protection in Business Standard and Defender for Office 365 P1 in Office 365 E3 and Microsoft 365 E3. The new price applies at your next renewal after 1 July 2026. Renew before 30 June 2026 to lock current pricing.
No. All figures shown are ex-GST by default (Indicative pricing ONLY, ex-GST, annual commitment, as at May 2026. Modern 42 confirms exact CSP pricing on quote.). Australian GST adds 10%, which you can toggle on in the calculator above. Prices are also quoted on an annual commitment; monthly billing carries roughly a 20% uplift over the annual per-user rate.
The figures are indicative AUD prices as at May 2026, based on Microsoft's published Cloud Solution Provider ladder and the confirmed 1 July 2026 percentage changes. Microsoft has not published official AUD post-July-2026 prices; the confirmed changes are the USD percentage increases, converted here as indicative AUD. Modern 42 is a Microsoft 365 Cloud Solution Provider and confirms exact CSP pricing on quote.
